Clamp bodies of NR and SR deraillieurs are all interchangable with the exception of non-circlip NR bodies which don't have the circlip indent present on all later bodies. The NR circlip clamp bodies from about mid-year 1972 until the late 70's had a more massive body which works absolutely fine with the parts from any NR/SR deraillieur made through the mid 80's. Greg Parker at Bicycle Classics should have stock of these bodies at a very reasonable price if the one you have is a non-circlip body. The noncirclip bodies tended you result in pivot arm wear and except for accurate restorations are not recomended. Hopefully I have this all right - its been a while since I've dealt with this on a daily basis. Mike Kone in Boulder CO
> Hello Everybody,
\r?\n>
\r?\n> Just a quick compatability question (yet another in a
\r?\n> series of bicycling and love double entendres):
\r?\n>
\r?\n> I am switching out the parts of a strangely undefined
\r?\n> colnago of mine with quasi-gilco tubing and braze on
\r?\n> front derailleur to a very pretty and now dusty
\r?\n> mercian with a clamp on.
\r?\n>
\r?\n> The big question, though, is this: the parts are Super
\r?\n> Record. I know that many parts of SR and NR are
\r?\n> virtually identical, and many are interchangeable:
\r?\n> should there be any problem using a NR front
\r?\n> derailleur clamp on a Super Record front derailleur?
\r?\n>
\r?\n> Please say "no, there won't be" ! I have access to a
\r?\n> NR derailleur clamp, but not a Super, and I am also
\r?\n> goofy impatient.
\r?\n>
\r?\n> Thanks,
\r?\n>
