As an alleged chatterer, at least in one member's opinion, maybe I should stay silent, but I think a per day limit is a bad idea. I've seen the leading lights such as Messrs. Baylis and Sachs post much more than 4 each in a day in a really intense Masi thread which a large number of members (though usually not me) found extremely interesting. But then neither might post at all for several days. If Dale is going to impose a limit, I think it should be more like per month. Four per day will cut short some very valuable threads and rob newer members of the knowledge of the real experts.

There are about ten or twenty list members that generate about 85% of the posts. There are some folks who spend way too much time looking for something to pounce on in every post, often for ego reasons, acting much like cyber-bullies. Definitely intimidating to newbies, that's for sure.

As silly as this may seem at first blush, I have suggested to Dale (hi Dale!) more than once that he consider implementing a per-day limit on the number of posts one member can generate. The number four has been discussed. That's 28 per week, or 1460 per year. Seems more than reasonable to me. It would force folks to think more before hitting the "send" button, at the very least.

Hi fellow CR folks,
This may seem like more chatter too, but the list seems to be getting out of control lately. Looking at the posts, it seems as if a few folks contribute most of the comments. Some of those posting consistently add wonderul information that when compiled is worthy of a book. Others (and we all do this to some extent, myself included) add fluff and Amens which does little to forward the group's knowledge base.
As far as I'm concerned, I have a lot more interest in seeing a newbie question answered which really helps someone, than to read posts from a true expert engaging in casual chit chat.
The bottom line is that many folks I know have simply opted out of the list since it can get too overwhelming. With hundreds of members, we all (including myself) need to excercise discretion to keep everything under control.
Also, we should all be certain to be especially kind to all who post (myself included) because nobody should ever be afraid to post simply because they have less knowledge than others and are concerned that others may jump on them.
