after following this thread about steel frames someone becoming ridden-out with use, I've come to the conclusion (not stated in the thread, but it must be true)..that this myth was started by racers themselves..partly for a reason suggested earlier, that they got stronger as the season progressed...but mostly because, if the myth of the wasted-steel-frame was true, then said racers could get nice, shiny, NEW frames from the sponsor every year.

Seems plausible to me, human nature being what it is... (that is, we get what we want by any means we can think of..cheating, lying, and just flat-out making stuff up to get what we want is part of our genetic heritage..the reason we rule the planet: we're the best politicians..that is, the best liars.. it took over a million years for evolution to make the best liars on the planet.. enjoy your power! )
