And speaking of unusual Mafac brakesets, I came across a Mafac sidepull (only the front) about 5 years ago. It was very nicely finished and the lever had a beautiful brown gum hood. I never saw one before or since, for that matter...Could this have been a prototype? The fellow whose bike I saw this on was an evaluator of parts for many manufacturers so rarely had a groupo or even matched set of anything.
