Subject: [CR](FS) Big-Big Bike sale

With the Fall Trexlertown flea market bearing down on me, and seeing that I've got too many bikes to put on the market for easy transportation, I'm having a pre-flea inventory reduction sale. All bikes were acquired as bare frames and have been assembled to various states of period correctness. I'm not aware of any crash damage to these, but all are used. Shipping for complete bikes is $55, frames $25 in CONUS. Other locations at cost. Checks ok, but held until cleared. First response saying "I'll take it" gets it. Delivery to Trexlertown or on the east coast preferred. I'll drive a few hours to avoid packing a bike. Or come visit Shrewsbury and we'll ride while you inspect. Pictures possible, but may take a few days. Replies & questions off list please.

1. 62 cm Torpado Special (?) with Galli group. Faint remnants of a TT decal looks like it says Special. No tubing sticker, but quality seamless tubing, takes a 27.2 seat post so I'm guessing Columbus SL. 62cm ST (C-T), 59cm TT (c-c), 42cm chainstays, 103 cm (40.5inch) wheel base. Built with mostly Galli group, 175mm Galli cranks, Galli brakes + levers (hoods are old, but usable), derailluers, hubs and pedals. Hubs & pedals are rebadged Maillard. Silver with maroon head tube and seat tube panel. Bad touch up of head tube (paint not very close match, but bare metal covered). Wheels are 36 spoke 14g stainless spokes laced to CR 18 rims. Conti 1000 tires. 6 speed frame and hub but 5 speed FW fitted. Avocet touring II saddle, GB stem, GB rando bars, stronglight A9 headset, Shimano 600 arabesque DT shifters (clamp on). Probably late 70's, model, not in Mark Agee's catalog scan online. Nice quick ride, definitely a race bike but

comfortable. Paint mostly there with usual chips and scratches, finish has patina, graphics 60% intact, legible except for TT model name and no tubing sticker, definitely used. Looks respectable, but not pristine. Missing one handlebar end plug. Chrome head lugs, fork crown and seatstay top eyes. $450.

2. 1972 61cm Raleigh Pro. Blue and silver, fastback seat stay, Cinelli style full sloping crown with haden pointy lugs. All Campy NR except Sugino Chainrings and BB (not sure of BB), mystery headset, and NR brakes have later cupped quick release levers. Genuine globe logo hoods that are old but intact. 175mm cranks with filed webs, no cracks. Steel Record pedals. Other "incorrect" parts: Low flange campy record hubs with Chorus skewers, CR 18 rims, roly-poly tires, Nitto bar and stem. Large rivet Brooks Pro saddle. 61 cm seat tube (c-t) 58.5 TT (c-c), 43 cm chainsstays, 103cm wheel base ( 40.5 inches). Looks pretty good, decals starting for fade away, someone ran steel housing barcons so head tube paint abraded but steel still covered, presentable for an original finish bike. $600

3. 1975(?) 25 inch PX10. Stronglight 93 cranks with black drilled rings (slight wobble) 50x40, Mafac Racer brakes, later Mafac levers (drilled with full gum hoods), Simplex Gold SLJ rear mech and sun logo shift levers, Suntour front derailleur, Peugeot/Maillard trophy HF hubs (the good ones), 36 spokes laced to Super Champ tubie rims (unknown model, seller thought arc-en-ciel), spokes are tied/wired but some joints are loose, Old tires mounted but not glued (I haven't ridden these wheels, so they may need work, but look true). 5 speed freewheel but room for six. Frame may have been spread, but many french bikes seem to be 123 mm anyway. SR Laprade post with Ideale 80 saddle (well broken in, but usable). This was the PX10 I mentioned last week, fork was realigned and painted by Matt Assenmacher, with an english steerer fitted. No major damage, but tire was 1/4 inch off center with front tire mounted, paint was bad so I had fork "fixed". Rides great now. Ritchey headset with Nitto I-beam stem and bars (crested bars). 25 inch seat tube (c-t), 62 cm TT (c-c), 46 cm chainstays (17.75 inch) and 103 cm wheel base (40.5 inches). Paint well chipped (except for fork, which is almost new finish) but touched up, Reynolds fork stickers a bit smaller than original but are in french, MKS platform pedals, no clips, pedal bearings feel a little dry. Nice riding bike, be ready for next year's Cirque! Classic white with black Nervex lugs. Again, presentable, but well patina'ed $400.

4. 60 cm Cirrus 7 Touring bike. Also recently discussed, noted American frame maker Tom Teesdale built these bikes as a house brand frame for an east coast shop back in the 70s. The total # was around 20, and only about 7 touring frames were made. Full set Reynolds 531. Excellent lug work in the "filed thin-American long point" school. Frame arrived NOS but without a fork, so I fitted a Surly cro-moly cyclo cross fork. At least it has a crown! Salsa aheadset stem ,Matrix bars, Early Shimano Deore 175mm triple cranks, early version Deore rear derailleur, LX front canti brakes, Universal CP rear brake (long, long brake reach on this one, sidepulls probably no go), Gran Compe levers. Shift levers are Rivendell bar con pods with Campy bumpy NR levers. Great touring wheels, Phil 36 spoke rear laced to OCR Bontrager Clyde rim (can't taco this one!), front is Suntour sealed 32 spoke laced to CR18 rim. Tires are Specialized 28cm Armadillos (big and fat). Avocet racing saddle, Blackburn rack bolted to frame braze ons (4 points). 60 cm seat tube (c-t) 57 cm top tube (c-c), 18 inch chainstays, 42 inch wheel base. Long and smooth, great touring ride. Silver paint, black fork. Paint quite fragile, but 95%, generally in good shape. Decals intact. Tom's still in business if you want a "proper" fork, and he still had Cirrus graphics the last time I asked. Six speed rear. $300.

5. Italvega Super Speciale frame. 25 inch Seat tube (c-t), 59 tt (c-c), 43 cm chainstays, 103 cm wheel base. Full Columbus DB, has an unusual old style gold foil tubing decal, but in English not Italian. Mint green paint, chrome fork crown, drop out faces. Drop outs drilled, and BB shell slotted. Ritchey head set fitted. Italian threaded BB. Graphics 95% gone, paint mostly all there but with the usual scuffs, rubs and a few scratches. Presentable, not pristine. Diamond cut outs in lugs. Standard reach nutted brakes. No fender eyelets. BB cable guides. Mid 70's? Nice italian ride. Six speed rear. $100.

5. Trek 660. Lugged frame so on topic, but just barely. Mid 80s. No fork, although I have a Schwinn Letour cro moly fork painted rattle can black that works great with this frame. You can have fork for free. True Temper DB cro-moly tubing, very light frame. 6 speed rear. A fine example of the Trek plug in style lug work. Rides nice! Short reach recessed brakes. 62 cm seat tube (c-t), 57.5 top tube (c-c), 41.5 cm chainstay. White with red decals., finish pretty good shape. $75.
