I now live in a hilly area (Salt Lake City), and want a smaller chainring for my rides up the canyons. So I want to swap my dura-ace crank for a campy GS that I have with a 35 tooth inner chainring. The GS looks much like a NR, but with a smaller BCD. I need to switch my BB from shimano to campy, I think, due to the different taper. The bike is an old Cannondale (one more year and it is in CR timeline), with a 7 speed freehub, non indexed and running a NR derailleur. I think this is 68mm BSC threading.
Looking on ebay, I see that campy has all sorts of spindle length, I've seen 107 to 114 or more. Does anyone know what would be best to use, or what was standard if such a thing existed?
And is it really true that a shimano taper won't work correctly with Campy? Thanks Dan Kasha SLC Utah where it is getting chilly.
