Need some help.

Having come to road bikes late in life and having completely jumped over the tubular tire experience/preference that many of you speak of, Id like to know more.

Looking at Ray Ethertons recent and slightly less recent offer of these, I had no clue what was good, bad, desireable or not. Judging by the fact that they all sold quickly I gather theres something desireable there.

Some may recall my Hetchins Spyder project of last winter. The lists advice as to how to mount my first tubulars was invaluable. However Ive experienced no magic carpet ride with the modern Clement "nothing special and kinda skinny" tires I mounted.

What brand, model, size should I be looking for that provides the classic tubular ride those of you who like them prefer and which yields a desireable look for an early 70's bike?

On another note, thanks to Chuck and the others who participated in the Mavic rim discussion this AM - another topic I was interested in exploring.
