Subject: [CR]piccies available

I have just finished stocking a USB flash drive with about 120 pictures of my collection with Eng Lang captions. Interested list members are welcome to borrow it. Please notify me off-list if you are.

The pictures: My collection comprises about 25 on-topic cycles, mostly British, some Italian, one French, one Ukrainian, and so on. For a rough idea, see list archives "what´s in your garage" from about a year ago. I had to take photos for my house contents insurance, so there was not much extra work involved in sharing them with the list. I just scanned the prints. While feeling perfectly at ease with showing them to listers, I do not want to put them on a website for general (mis-)use. Besides, I have a standard telephone internet connection, and uploading them would take days.

The medium: It is a USB flash drive which you plug into your USB 1.1 or 2.0 port. If you use Apple Mac 8.6 or higher (or even Windows 2000 / ME / XP), it will be a plug & plaything. Doesn´t work with other OSs, sorry. There is about 50 MB worth of photos on it. It weighs 13 gms, so should not be heavy on postage.

The idea: I send the drive over to the states, if there´s someone interested, the adressee keeps it for a day or two, copies piccies onto his or her computer, and sends it on to the next chap (if any). There´ll be a list of interested parties on it, too. Besides, there is a great deal of storage space left on it to leave ideas, criticism, parts offers, personal messages and other data. The last one sends it back to me. If there is no-one interested, my insurance company will get it.

The other idea: If you can spare your own USB flash drive for a fortnight (MAC OS 10.3 compatibility required), you send it here and I store the snaps on it before sending it back.

Regards,

Toni Theilmeier, Belm, Germany.

P.S.: In the case of a sudden disruption of an e-mail conversation with me, please assume that I have given up the medium and contact me in a more traditional way. I am in the trial phase of a last ditch system after some others could not stand my constant abusing them.
