Edco made an 'eccentric' version of their Competition bottom bracket to solve this type of problem. Instead of threaded cups, it locks into place via a cam action. I bought one a few years ago without realizing what it was. It's still in my parts collection. It came without instructions and I'd worry about relying on it when I'm far from home - does anyone out there have direct experience with these?

You don't have to worry about the threading; English, Italian, French or SWISS! Aha, Swiss threading is probably why this Swiss company came up with the idea. I didn't measure mine but my eye tells me that it's probably too short for road cranks from the Campy NR/SR era.

Unfortunately, finding one won't likely be easy and perhaps not cheap but perhaps a list member or one of the good vintage parts vendors has one available.

Good luck.

Hi all, Subject line says it all. Is there an easy (cheap) way to fix stripped threads on an English threaded b.b?
