You could also put a Mavic threadless bb in it and never have to worry about the threads.

My $.02.......Jerry Casale late of Hill Cycle in Phila. (Chestnut Hill), solved my BB (adjustable cup) problem on a '76 Gitane Tour de France by brazing brass on top of the existing thread then retaping (French). I overhauled the BB at least twice afterwards w/o problems.
