Subject: [CR] Track Rear Hub Axle Spacing 110-120-122 Time Line? Chainline? Rationale?

Okay spaced out techies, I have a couple of questions. Spacing on modern Campy Standard Rear Track hub measures 120 mm. Some recent Japanese Keirin frames range from 112 to 122. I've heard old Euro standards of 110.

1. Does anyone know the reason and time-line for all the various rear track spacing? 2. When changing spacing on a 110 rear hub to a 120, should all 10 mm spacers be added to the non-drive side? Or should the spacers be split 5 + 5 mm on each side? And if 5 mm is added to the drive side, will that change the chain line? Scott Davis St. Paul, MN
