On the advice of a previous listmember's post I picked up this month's issue of Cycle Sport.

In addition to the 100 pages of Merckx articles, on page 12 and 13 is a double page spread (certainly, this must be the vintage bike lover's equivalent of the Miss February centerfold) of the Hour Record Bike where it sits today, at a Metro stop in Brussels. Sealed in a plate-glass shrine, it appears identical to the bike pictured in the current issue of Vintage Bike Quarterly (great issue, Jan!). My only question is, who keeps the tires pumped up? ;-)

The only difference I see is that the handlebars are now without holes! I believe Brett told us many months ago that someone drilled these holes after Eddy's record run, and this appears to be true... this issue of Cycle Sport also has a photo of Eddy on the track which is much clearer than the shots that are typically seen on the web, and the bars do not appear to have any holes in them. So apparently, someone decided to replace the drilled bars with what was on the bike originally.

What a great issue. Now I'm gonna sit down and read the thing, if my wife will leave me alone for a while.
