Jerry,

You are absolutely right-on. Doug's work was beautiful and you could not find a framebuilder more willing to help another and share his knowledge. Doug is an incredible guy(in his own quiet way). He's the kind of guy that makes you feel there's hope for the human race.

BTW, Jerry, I'm sorry there wasn't time to see your collection - it was hard to miss that but so much going on at the show. It was great to meet you in person!

I want to correct one glaring omission in the below. Doug Fattic was both an exhibitor and a presenter, doing an excellent seminar on frame painting. His frames on display were top-notch, both in terms of construction and paint. They rated right up there with the prize winners, and he could easily have taken a prize.

There will be a detailed account of the first annual North American Handmade Bicycle Show in the February issue of The Racing Post, but it is worth saying that the show was a success in terms of exhibitors and public attendance.

Awards were given based upon votes tallied by the public and the exhibitors at the show. It was quite a site to see repsected builders showing appreciation for the craftmanship of their fellow builders.
