The meeting was called to order by the Omnipotent Despot @ 6:05 PM.

Jamie Swan made a formal announcement that after building frames as an amateur for some 20 odd years in the bicycle business, he is now going pro. Peter Weigle will do the painting. Jamie brought examples of the seat stay top plugs that he machined.

The New York Bike Messengers are having a ride and swap meet on February 19th between 9AM and 2 PM. Location is Pier 62 on the west side.

Vincente Saraco displayed a bicycle training book written in Spanish along with his original training schedule written for him by Carlos Laborde; 7 times Uruguayan National Sprint Champion.

Paul Lee discussed his Benelux Front Derailleur from his recently acquired Carlton.

The Omnipotent Despot displayed a collection of various broken Campagnolo Bike Parts along with an accompanying story of how each part failed. JP also displayed a 1930’s vintage box that originally contained the retro-fit solid axle to quick release kit by Campagnolo.

Mordeccai Silver shared various International Cycle Sport magazines of the 70’s, the Merckx edition of the latest Cycle Sport, and various vintage books.

Ray Homiski brought an impressive collection of rear derailleurs from the 1950’s.

The group also heard a live via telephone presentations from Peter Weigle, Jack Gabus, and Brian Baylis.

• Peter Weigle shared a story about a little known French constructor. • Jack Gabus discussed a new project to provide head tube badges to a major frame builder who is a wizard at building beautifully lugged bicycles. • Brian Baylis gave the BVVW an update on the Hand Made Bicycle Show in Houston.

Les Himel suggested the BVVW look into t-shirts via Retro-Velo and jerseys made by Vintage Velos/Woolistic. Michael Allison gave a slide show on his Apple laptop of Pergolizzi building Mike’s 1962 Masi Special. This is the frame that Mike had custom built during a Vigorelli visit and Brian Baylis recently refurbished. Absolutely stunning! The meeting adjourned at 8:30 PM and the group went downtown to Blue Smoke Jazz Club and Barbeque. After mucho food and libations, we dispersed and all arrived home by the next day!
