Subject: [CR]Help needed to identify a Colnago...

Hello,

I have been having a lot of difficulty locating anyone who can help me in this matter, and I was just referred to try contacting Classicrendezvous, to check if anyone might be able to offer me some help and/or advice.

I recently purchased what appears to be an older (steel) Colnago road frame, and I have been trying to get some information about it. Ideally, I would like to find out the name of the model, and also the year it was manufactured. Is there any chance that any of you can help me, or perhaps recommend me to someone else who could? The serial number on the frame (located on the rear wheel dropout) is 4A214. The label identifying the Columbus tubing set states: "Gilco Design; Profilo S4". The fork has straight blades, and appears to be entirely chrome. The front lugs are mainly chrome, and both the seat and chain stay arms are mainly chrome. The rear dropout and derailleur hanger are also chrome. The remainder of the steel frame is painted in a glossy finish, medium-dark tone, wine red color, and the "Colnago" name (printed on the seat and down tubes) is in black lettering on a white background (both ends of the white background section on the seat tube is banded with what appears to be world championship stripes) . The rear brake cable runs internally through the top tube. Finally, there does not seem to be any model name indicated anywhere on the frame.

I would appreciate any help or advice you could offer to help me track down some information on this bike.

Thanks very much to all of you in advance for your time and consideration in this matter.

Best wishes to one and all,

Steve McFee (Montreal, Canada).
