I'm not sure when Zunow first started in Japan, but for years they produced both simple and more elaborate frames, often with beautiful ornate detailing, including fancy lug work, and sometimes bridging on the almost avant garde They are/were a very well known and popular bike here, from a maker not shy to strut his stuff to appreciative fans. I see them come up fairly regularly at the Japanese auctions. The only remnant of Zumow now, is a bike shop down in Chiba, south of Tokyo called Zunow East. They sell a couple different types, mostly modern, but with at least one more traditional steel frame with somewhat fancy lugs. I think they were/are offering it in Columbus Nemo tubing, a very light steel alloy that came out around 1997. I know because I was intrigued by the lightness and bought a Tommasini frame from Italy about then when it first hit the market. Anyway, the bikes that are available from that shop now carry the "Zunow East" name on them. Not sure what the connection is to the originals.

Sorry I don't know more of the history.

Dennis

Hi Charles, Unfortunately mine is not that ornate. I wish it was, that is a beautiful frame. Do you know much about Zunow?I haven't been able to learn much. Any info you can share will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Lee
