I have three lugless bikes that are among my favourites. Two are mid-fifties Gillotts -- matching road and track frames, fillet brazed with oversize top tubes. Both are well crafted and ride extremely well. Both are made from 531 butted tubes and the road bike has Campagnolo dropouts The other is a 1973 Condor Barracchi, still in good original paint with half-chrome forks and stays - conventional 531 butted tube sizes, fillet brazed, and Campagnolo dropouts. People do not get so ecstatic over lugless frames as they do over fancy lugwork, but the craftsmanship can be just as good. Fancy lugs don't make a bike faster -- just heavier
