My apologies for doing this but whoever contacted me about the frame here is the information you are looking for. I am getting terribly forgetful lately. They have a name for it in my trade CRAFT syndrome. Can't remember a f----ng thing! That might be flipping I forgot already. The bloke who sold it to you was right it is Swiss built. I am positive its a Mairag from the way you described it with the drilling's in the Prugnat lugs. They also had a distinctive semi-slopping fork crown made to their own design and this sounds the same. Mairag's were available here in the UK in the early 80's remember seeing a trade display for them in early 1982. The top of the range were called the 4 and 5 Star models made in either Columbus or Reynolds tubing usual short Campag road ends. There was also an "S" version. Think this stood for super which was made in Reynolds 753. The unusual things about these Swiss frames were that the threads were Imperial plus the drilled Prugnat lugs and their own fork crown. Their paint work was fabulous and hard wearing. They would make bespoke and they built "funny" aerodynamic frames for track and time trials. They supplied the German Velo Schauff outfit who in turn supplied two national teams one for the world championship and also the Commonwealth games. They were tested in the a wind tunnel at Mercedes Benz. Nearly forgot made tear-drop tubing and tandems as well. Makes a novel change to hear of another superb quality frame starting with an "M" which isn't a Masi. Just hoping you are from the list but one for future reference in any case. Be Lucky Mick.

Thats all for now. Keep those wheels spinning, in your memories if not still on the road. Be lucky Mick Butler Huntingdon UK.
