Geesh.....If I'd only known this was going to be on the list... Early this week I stripped an old Bianchi the owner had powder coated ( lets call it PC from now on ok?) a few years ago. Shameful eh? There was a lot of rust under the finish, especially around the lug and bottom bracket joints. I would have taken pictures if I'd known PC was going to be flogged here. Having your frame PC'D doesn't guarantee it a better life!!! It can still chip and rust!
But even more important than that! THEY NEVER USED THE STUFF IN THE OLD DAYS !! If your classic bike needs to be refinished, try and emulate the original finish, don't coat it in plastic... Its not PC!!! I have to go now and put another coat of celeste' enamel on 'Sir Edoardo' Chiao for now, Peter Weigle painting away................
