Steven, Maybe he was so excited to see the bar and stem available that he did not notice that the stem badge which is pictured in the auction, and should go on the stem (should it not?), doesn't come with the stem. When he later reviewed the auction, and realized that the badge is BAIT, and not for sale as part of the auction, he retracted his bid. Just a guess.

Steven, I think you have a right to be upset, but I think before jumping to name

calling and telling everyone to avoid him, maybe talk to him to see what

the story is. He is a nice guy, I have dealt with him for years without a problem, with on and off ebay sales. I have no idea why he may have retracted his bid, but name calling really dumbs down the list, especially when it comes from someone who is highly respected on the list for his knowledge. regarding the retraction ebay only gives you three preset reasons for retracting. * You accidentally enter a wrong bid amount (for example, you bid $99.50 instead of $9.95). If this occurs, re-enter the correct bid amount immediately. * The description of an item you have bid on has changed significantly. * You cannot reach the seller. This means that you have tried calling the seller and the seller's phone number doesn't work, or you have tried

emailing the seller and it comes back undeliverable. I think the more responsible way to go would be to ask you to cancel his

bid, but that also has preset reasons to cancel his bid. All my experiences with him have been smooth, never a problem, prompt payment. I highly recommend him. ralph Philadelphia, PA via bicycle

"For all of you that sell things on ebay, I would like to heartily advise that you place the ebayer going by the id: " gary-at-home " on your blocked bidder list. He is ebay scum.

He is based in Canada and has already purchased from many CR-listmembers.

As many of you know, I have a set of NOS steel Cinelli bars and stem up for sale. http://ebay.com/<blah> This ebayer carefully read my item description and consciously placed a bid that was higher than the reserve which was clearly noted in the text. By bidding above the reserve, this immediately removed the 'Buy it Now' option from all other ebayers. The bidder maintained his bid for over 6 full days and then retracted it stating that he entered the wrong bid amount. Not only does this go against ebay rules, it is also unethical. This also obviously places a stigma on the auction. I will be reporting this incident to ebay.
