I am looking to purchase a Suntour XC Pro 7 or 8 spd cassette hub and have a question about the standard hub vs the microdrive hub. Starting in 1992 Suntour introduced their Microdrive line and the XC Pro hubs were available in two versions from then on. What were the physical differences in the hubs and the cassettes they used? Were the hub bodies a different size or did they use a different spline pattern? Other then the model number how can one tell which hub or cassette you are looking at? Do the 7 and 8 speed cassettes use the same hub body? If I have a 1992 7 spd hub will it take an 8 spd cassette and visa versa.
