There were two stages that day. Stage 1 Montpellier-Narbonne and Stage 2 an afternoon 63km. time trial Narbonne-Perpignan. The first stage was won by Rene Le Greves France who eventually finished 15th in the final classification. The time trial was one by Maurice Archambuad France who finished 7th.in the final race classification. This was the Tour that had the big French ruck (argument) Charles Pelissier rode as an Independent that year and French morale was very low. Franesco Cepeda came off on the descent of the Galibier that year and died some days later as a result of his injuries he sustained from the crash. The first TdeF rider to die during a race. He was Spanish. Looked this up in the reference books. Maes of Belgium won. Anybody got a nice pair of Maes Kint's they would like to swap?

Thats all for now. Keep those wheels spinning, in your memories if not still on the road. Be lucky Mick Butler Huntingdon UK.
