For those of you that keep tabs on who's done what or is currently doing what: ( I can't, because I have yet to attend a San Diego Balboa park ride or an east coast Rendezvous-- shame shame). I am looking at a box of parts for my Gios project and I am faced with the knowledge that I have never restored Campy ( only Japanese). Is it true that if I have a particularly rusty looking steel bolt or screw, I can get a new Campy replacement? Do I sand the chrome off and nickel plate something? What about those screw springs on derailleurs ? Can I get new ones? What is the story on the Nouvo Record Derailleur (rear) with the black body? If the chainwheels look so so to good, should I stick with them or replace them with new ones? Should I opt for the Super Record headset because it has aluminum show parts that are easy to buff up or should I go with the Nouvo Record stamped 1972 (72) that has rusty parts? Am I in over my head or is this a rite of passage?
