....... a few comments on the upcoming Atlanta Bike Show..... A year or two ago, after the show, someone posted the comment on CR that there was not much Vintage Lightweight stuff there. I think I responded with something like "sure, it won't be there if nobody brings it". I think that because of the immense scope and resulting success of Le Cirque, people think these things fall out of the sky. I'm sure Dale wishes that was the case. What it really takes is coordination and commitment from many people...people who plan the event, people who participate by offering wares for sale and people who just show up for the fun. People, people, people. It's been tough, until the last few years with Nick helping out, to pull the Vintage Lightweight crowd out in Atlanta. I find it hard to believe that the Vintage Lightweight crowd is not strong enough to support another collectible bicycle event in the South. Admittedly, it is close to the Cirque (4 weeks), but what else are you going to do on the first weekend in April? Stay home and watch Arena Football? I do my part by making the event available (14th year, all at the same place, same time of year). It's up to the rest of you to do your part by showing up.....and bring something, for crying out loud. Nick is planning a ride on Saturday afternoon, so make it something ride-able. Bike shows like this, after all, are really about people who have a burning interest in something that 99% of the rest of the population doesn't even know exists. So show your colors, come out of that closet where you keep the Masi. Secret knowledge like knowing the month, day & year of the introduction of the "open C" is something to be shared with others.
