At least "in the day" Columbus stickers rarely gave any more information than what you have there, namely special butted steel tubing. When the CroMor and Aelle came out they began marking those grades on the stickers, but it seemed the SL or SP frames would still just have a sticker like yours. Someone else may have knowledge to the contrary, but I always assume that Columbus stickers are just the opposite of what one would get from today's spin doctors and hype artists, i.e. lesser grades will be marked as such, but if the grade is not designated, it can be assumed the highest quality grade of steel tubing is used, though not necessarily in the lightest gauge.

It´s nearly my size (64 cm c/t, 65 would have been better) and cost less than 100 US-Dollars (70 Euros, to be exact) in ride-away condition. Very nicely done with "R"-cutouts everywhere (under b/b, in some lugs), and rides nicely, too.

The funny thing is that it bears the same non-descript Columbus transfer my other Rossin (a Super Record, on wooljersey) has. It just says "Acciaio Speciale" which I take to mean special steel, and "Tubi Rinforzati" which I think means reinforced tubing. No indication if it´s Cromor, or SL, or even the lowly Aelle. Any explanation? Even cheaper stuff than Aelle? Thanks.
