I'm enjoying that the thread on Treks has appeared and is not dying an instant death. The photos of that 1982 Trek 710 on eBay make me want to cry. I have three old treks, a 1983 710, a 1979 930 and a 1985 600. I'd love to get a 1982 or 83 720. The 930 I have came to me as a frame and fork with a totally trashed BB (campy NR) and a sad looking 600ex headset. It had no paint, rust over every thing, one shifter boss, one cable guide for the rear der. and oddly had fender eyelets on the rear drop outs, but none on the front. In that era, I think most Treks didn't have any of these braze ons.

Ed Litton repainted the bike for me, after adding waterbottle mounts, a second shifter boss and replacing the BB cable guides with Campy guides. Ed also repainted my 710, but I didn't get decals for that one and I left the headbadge off.

For my tastes, Trek frames lost appeal for me with the redesigns of 1985 but I would still prefer those to what came later. Ugh!
