Anyone who thinks price/lb is getting out of hand for rare (or even scarce) collectible vintage bicycle parts should dip a toe in the worlds of stamp or coin collecting. Seriously - if you want to see some real $/gm check out: http://ebay.com/<blah> (item #5566103148)

And these items are relative lightweights, price-wise, in that world. I would venture that there are many more copies of a given $5,000-value stamp around than, say, a pristine pair of Cinelli bivalent hubs. There just aren't as many collectors for the hubs (yet).
