Subject: [CR]Raleigh vs. Schwinn : does beat-up mean good ??

It occurs to me that when it comes to campy production bikes from the early 1970's, just about everyone has a NOS schwinn paramount in their garage (at least if ebay is any measure of the market, quasi-NOS is almost the only thing you can find), but certain other bikes are "beat to kingdon come" (to tone it down for dale's living room.)

Does this necessarily mean that Raleighs were more fun to ride, or did Schwinn just sell the bike more frequently to "hang it on the wall" type of owners ?? What do you think ??
