Probably Martano was the original, at least for US-made frames. That's documented by a few sources, including PDFs of original literature.

Martanos seem to be hard to find, however. I recall from my many afternoons of bike shop haunting back in those days that I saw a lot of Fiamme, Nisi, and Ambrosio on Italian bikes. My '80 Masi GC is getting Ambrosio Montreals when I get around to it.

Greetings,

Am helping a friend restore a bike already fabulously repainted by Brian Baylis & need either 32 or 36 hole tubular rims. Any recommendations as to brand & model as well as leads would be much appreciated. You could email me at yojimmy@msn.com<mailto:yojimmy@msn.com>

Thanks!
