I think most of us agree that Grant has been a great influence in a very positive way for 'our way of thinking', in fact actually help shape the thoughts and keeping us properly focused on what bikes are: useful and beautiful machines. One thing I really love about bicycles is the variety of types of bikes and the differences in the details we see. If I want art work, I'd look to Brian or Rivendell, if I want a great functional classic road racer, I go to Chris Kvale or Richard Sachs; for French cyclo-tourist I go to Peter Weigle. (These are examples only, and not meant in any way to exclude the large number of fantastic builders I have seen and sometimes been priviledged to meet at the Cirque). And I know all of these bikes are fabulous rides. Anyway, re: Rivendell: Curt G may build those as well as under his own name, but they are different, yet both great frames. So I am a little confused why some say they'd order from Curt before Rivendell. Get what turns you on for the right reasons. I also thank Grant for having produced the 'stock' frames in the classic lugged style. I have both a Rambouillet a new Quickbeam, and dearly love both. This level definitely gets great, beautiful, quality bicycles with lugs into the hands of more (though not enough), and helps build on the use and comfort of what bikes are supposed to be. next year I will be ordering a custom frame from a wonderful builder, but in the meantime I'll ride and enjoy the complements I get on my KOF rides. BTW, regarding a previous post: Waterford is no longer dedicated to Lugged Steel. sadly.

Bicycling is Life. the rest is just details.
