I had almost given up trying to organize my little gathering this year. My shop is still a construction zone, and since I'm now way out in the country, I wanted to have my new space all organized and spiffy for a proper "unveiling" and a gathering of the local classic bike geeks. That and the fact that I haven't ridden AT ALL, in seemingly as long as I can remember. Too many distractions and too much work on the homestead. The weather hasn't helped much either, with a long, cold, wet Spring. But today Spring finally seem to be in the air, and with the Cirque a few short weeks away, I figured I need some motivation (er...excuse) to just stop and go for a bike ride!
So now it's official. The Third Annual Greater DC Area Pre-Cirque Ride and Tea Party.
Sunday, April 24th - 10:30 AM - My House - Lovettsville VA
I had to add "Greater DC area" in the title since I'm now as close to Baltimore as I am DC, which is to say about an hour and 10/15 minute drive from either. And even closer to Winchester (*!).
As usual, here's a chance to do a "shake-down" run on that vintage ride you've just whipped up for the Cirque. Everyone is welcome, and welcome to ride whatever, but I thought I'd keep the "Cirque-bound" theme. I have no idea yet what the route will be, but suspect it will be about a 25-or-so miler, and SLOW. We should be prepared to roll out by 11:00 or shortly after, so give yourself a little time cushion to be safe. There are a lot of nice roads around, but Winter was pretty harsh on some of them this year, so I'll try and pick the better ones. It's mostly rolling country-side, so bear that in mind.
As in the past, there will be a post ride gathering at my house, where the Tea Party will take place. Other libations (besides tea) and some food will also be available. You may even get a chance to see the shop/bike gallery work-zone, but be careful, I might put you to work if you loiter there too long.
I can provide directions to anyone who requests them, but the usual map services seem to work pretty well too. Address below. Clearbrook Lane is a gravel road, but it's only an 8th of a mile, and we are at the end of the road.
Please let me know if you plan on attending, so I can make proper arrangements for food and drink.
