You forgot to mention that his record breaking ride took
place at the autodrome in Montlhéry, which we discussed so
thoroughly a couple of months ago! Until the advent of WW2,
this seemed to be the place to make those motor-paced record
attempts. Take a look at this link for more info and pictures
of the bicycles taht were used, including the one ridden by
"Mile A Minute" Murphy in 1899:
