Subject: [CR]Why so few Swallows?

As one who actually owns a few and rides them I feel the need to state the obvious. The narrower a Brooks saddle, the more of an ass hatchet it becomes. They are to this butt less comfortable than the Swift, which in turn is less comfortable than the Pro. I feel the B-17 Champion Special (I have them both steel railed and Ti railed...for some strange reason the steel railed ones feel more comfy...darned if I can see a reason why) is about the most appealing in terms of comfort and appearance. I do, however ride in a somewhat more erect position with the stem set higher than I used to when younger, so perhaps this explains the appeal of a wider saddle. I confine my Swallow usage to shorter rides or bike shows. My guess is that the combination of high price and less comfort lead directly to fewer of the Swallows being sold.
