Subject: [CR]New Colnago Project

I'm getting started on a restoration of a '70s Colnago and have a few questions for those more familiar with them.

I reviewed Brian Baylis' Colnago time line as posted a few months ago, mine keys out as follows..............

Fork, small tangs - 2 holes/no clubs, IC crown, clubs only, no colnago, no holes

Frame, Lugs, club on lower head lug only Bottom Bracket has club cutout, Braze-on Cable Guides on top Braze-on water bottle bosses on down tube only Braze-on rear derailleur cable stop No other Braze-ons Fluted seat stays, no engraving

From Brian's guidelines I'd guess it's a late '73 or early '74 (or a '74 frame with a '73 fork?). Any thoughts? Any other features to key? Anybody have a set of decals? If one shows up at Cirque (wish I could be there, maybe next year.....) could someone please post some pics?

The paint is probably not original, no original decals, and so far no serial number. There are some decals that say "Model Campagnolo" and one says "Race Specialist, A. Brands, Amsterdam 942778". Most of the parts are probably not original. I'll be taking "before" pics this weekend.

Other questions,

Were pantographed parts or groups available for this bike? Did the engraving change from year to year? What colors were available?

Thanks much, maybe by next year I'll be able to bring it out........................
