This 58cm 1972 complete Derosa should be an interesting auction to watch. First, it is the same vintage I think as the one that a listmember bought (just the frame) for about what the starting bid is, $2000. Second, the seller is asking a bit for shipping, as in about $150. I would think that would mean that the California buyers who can pick it up in Sunnyvale will be all over this one. I was the "what-the-hell-is-HE-smokin'-anyway" list member who paid far more than I should have for that early 70s de rosa frame/fork on ebay, that Lou is referring to. The frame of the current bike on ebay is a different style, and 2cm taller. And in much better shape than mine was/is. Personally, I like the short-point-lug-with-heart-cutout De Rosas better than the long-point frame I bought, and the one on ebay is in perfect condition. Between you and me, if this bike fits you, you should buy it. There's no telling when you'll see another one like it, and highly unlikely you'll see one in this condition. Not many of those came into the country. Later De Rosas? Yeah. But those pressed-lug frames, they are darned hard to find, for-sale or otherwise. They're a real pleasure just to admire, let alone ride.

I am truly grateful that bike on ebay is too tall for moi, if it was a 55-57, I would just have to buy it. But, then, if it was a 55-57, it'd be sold already. The only reason it's still up is because it's on the tall side, imho.
