Geeze Pete, You hit the nails right smack on their respective heads.

My 1978 Super Grand Prix - Yes, the one inch LaPrade is for this. I purchased the bike from the original owner in 79 and he took the broken-in leather saddle and seat pin. I've seen Raleighs-a la -typical Raleigh - using either the straight pin (Sturmey ? GB ?) and the SR Laprapde. I will check the S/N of my Super Grand Prix. Neat little bike. I enjoy it very much. It is a constant rider for me all these years. Does it's job nobley, it does, in proper English sense of duty.

My 1974 Super Course Mk. II - You surprised me. I assumed seat pin would be 27.2 for reason of the R531. I had better figure out a way to measure the diameter. Currently, it is fitted with a straight pin although, I do not know if it is original.

Pete: I apologise for a possible double-posting but, I do not know if you wrote On or Off list (Not everyone alerts to Off List replies.)

Thanks.

What year and model bike is this for? It seems that most of the lower end made do with straight posts. My 78 Super Grand Prix (20-30) has a 1" straight post. My 77 Super Course (531 main tubes) has a 26.8mm SR post with "Raleigh" engraved in it, no flutes though.
