The loss is typically actual cash value less the deductable. Some other policy's are written with replacement cost options. With a repl acement cost policy, you can replace that Richie Sachs bike with a new one for the cost in 2005 dollars less any deductable. So if you can produ ce receipts and photos, that is a good thing. Where is gets hairy is the issue of determining value of a 1954 Rene Herse. That's when you need a special rider to schedule the items. You also must produce an appraisel or proof of the bike's true value.

I would just place on the policy the rarest bikes that you as the c ollector would tend to suffer the greatest financial loss in the event the bikes were lost, stolen, or destroyed.
