Subject: [CR]Fram ID - Help Please!

Hi folks,

Hope someone can help me to identify my frame! I’ve had it since 1983, but when I took the complete bike on it had no badges or labels, and had been stripped and seemed to have been re-painted in black using a yard broom! The back wheel originally had a double-sided hub with a 5- or 6-speed cluster on one side and a fixed single sprocket on the other. Unfortunately both wheels were in a poor state so I replaced them with new ones.

As far as identifying features go, it appears to have a Nervex ‘Pro’ bottom bracket. The other lugs also seem to be Nervex; they don’t match the BB exactly but are just as pretty. It has brazed bosses for derailleur levers on the downtube, rear brake cable guides on the lower LHS of the top tube, plus gearchange cable tunnel guides at the bottom of the downtube near the BB. The forks are chromed and have a mount for a lamp bracket on the RHS fork. The only original hardware still remaining are the Weinmann Vainquer CP brakes and the headset (unmarked – I tried to replace it with a modern needle-roller set but could never get it to fit!). The rear wheel hangers are marked ‘Cyclo’, and the RHS one is marked with a serial number, which appears to read: ZSV8656. (Possibly Zeus???)

The dimensions I have to hand are 23” from top tube to crank centre, and 22” from seat post to headstock. With a set of 27” wheels it’s always been a bit of a stretch for this 5’4” lady, but I covered a lot of miles on it way back when! A potential back operation in the future has given me enough of a kick in the pants to do something with my (t)rusty old steed and get fit again, although I will probably sell the frame on and put the modern (22-year old!) hardware onto something similar but of a more suitable size!!

With grateful thanks in advance,

Keep the rubber side down!
