I believe the older GB stems were 1", i.e. 25.4 mm, as were a lot of older British bars and stems. JIS standard Japanese bars and stems are 1" as well. Some Nittos are still made to this dimensions. Since 25.4 falls between the old French 25.0 mm and the standard (except Cinelli) Italian 26.0 mm, you can sometime get away with mixing and matching. Early 70's Raleigh Pros came with 1" GB "map of Britain" bars but 26.0 mm TTT stems. They didn't fuss with a shim, just tightened down the stem bolt. So Raleigh.

Have need of a GB alloy stem period-correct-not-date-specific for pre-1975 Raleigh. "Ish, kind of sort of" lenght is 3 inches +/- 1/4 in. As good condition as possible. I am assuming GB stem & bars are 25mm so, only GB's mate. Any other stems mate with GB bars ? Thanks. Richard Cielec Chicago, Illinois
