Take a look at this Raleigh Item # 7161439866 URL http://ebay.com/<blah>

I guess it's a Competition? No chrome on the stays or forks? The lugs aren't right, are they? And the components? Nuovo Record (except for the pedals)? Is this a Comp? A Comp GS? Did they paint over the chrome? It's right down the road from me so I may go have a look.

I have a frame just like this one (in a 61 cm. size) - they were made in Japan. There should be a decal attesting to that on the bottom end of the seat tube. Midnight blue metallic paint. Chromed-face Suntour dropouts, domed & slotted stays. cutouts in the lugs, decent workmanship, if somewhat bland-looking. I think it's somewhat of a transitional frameset, circa 1980 or newer, and I'm not sure how it was marketed by Raleigh (as a Competition or Pro, I'd wager). Mine was just a frameset when I purchased it used, and has no model name on it anywhere. Headbadge says "The Raleigh." Is this an early Raleigh USA product, maybe?
