I was up on the Wall for laps 3 thru 6 (or was it 7?). Charlie, I think all of the really great bikes had to be down your way, because it was hurtful to the eyes up by me. I think I saw less than a dozen lugged bikes. An d no Rivs of any kind this year. Last year I saw a Riv & a Quickbeam. Just all aero & carbon fiber & all that stuff. Yuck! But it is harder to get arou nd up there with a bike than it is by the Art Museum. So you may have seen a larger total number of bikes than I did, too.

I didn't take a bike-I live about a 5min walk from the Wall, so it's not really worth it. I did in the early days-before there were such crowds.

Then I would ride downtown & back again. Too many folks now.

Snipped: My plans were in flux until the early morning hours of yesterday's USPRO

championship race in Philadelphia so I didn't do any degree of preplanning to catch up with any CR listmembers at the race. Nonetheless, the faithful were out in force. Curtis Anthony and Joel of

Via had a nice shady spot for grilling and conversing on Lemon Hill. The

folks from Bilenky were out in force with a minimum of five cargo bikes

to carry their party supplies. Larry Black and Gilbert Anderson made the

trek up north to join the encampment.

Spotted some nice old steel at intervals throughout the day and, as expected, some very interesting fixed gear conversions ranging from gaspipe to great. For my part, the Viking path got dusted off and proved

its mettle when, for the second year in a row, I made a late departure and I needed to time trial out of the city up the Schuylkill River bicycle path in order to pick up my daughter from a pool party.
