Well Gang, I can only begin to tell youse of the fun we had last night! When I arrived at the appointed hour, by chance meeting Nino Helman and Steve Klein(on his fixed gear folding bike) out front, their were already 4 or 5 members upstairs. The group grew to set a NEW RECORD of 19 Brooklyn Velodrome Vintage Wheelmen! THAT is Critical Mass! I can't begin to thank Mr. and Mrs. Arnold for their generosity and hospitality in opening up their home for our group. But, THANK YOU (x 1 million). At 8:10 we walked uptown to 83ed and 2ed to Tony's di Napoli family style Italian Restaurant. The main room is decorated with an auto/Formula 1 theme, but with 18 for dinner we got OUR OWN ROOM! Our server Anna (from Park Slope) was THE Best. Sweet, patient, and understood Italiano; she did it for all of us. Wine wise, a two foot high bottle of Chianti satisfied our thirsts and now resides in Jamie Swan's shop. Jamie commandeered the oversize cork from me under the pretext that he would bring the bottle to the next meeting ........ ..............FULL. Our guests of honor Matteo Brandi and Lou Deeter got a view of the nightlife in the upper east side. I sur is preety. Also in attendance: Joe Bender-Zanoni,Carlyle Tam, Ritchie "The Beast" Singer, Mike Schmidt, Billy Vojtech, Antonio Gulino, Paul and Rita Lee, Eddie Albert ( brought lots of great swag borrowed from various European races), Mordacai Silver, Mike Allison, and Me. This was a really GREAT meeting! To look around and see all these guys have'n fun makes me very happy. If there's any way, come to the next meeting and be part of the fun. Iffin yer too far away, then start a group, hound a few of the locals, and then write in and share the fun.
