Although this is slightly out of timeline (hopefully Dale will have mercy on me), and there really wasn't an answer presented to this question, I suspect a few people might have wondered what the answer to this question might be (I was one of them!). As it happens a recent eBay auction might shed light on the answer:

Seems 7401 and 7402 DA brake levers are slightly different in shape. Looks as though hoods are not interchangeable.
