Marcus & the list

We had this argument at the bike shop decades ago. The test I devised was to clamp a set of loose dropouts into the adjusted hub with the skewer adjusted and clamped as well, then spin & feel for play, reduced play or binding. The results? Axles, well Campagnolo axles are quite resistant to compression. Try the test at home. It will even work with Richard Sachs drop outs as well should one need some. That test ended the argument long ago for me.

The other result? If one is around 180 lbs. or more and running a 6 speed check the rear axle for trueness, at least at each rebuild.
