Because the Limiteds (the black model) were considered to be "production" models, and were therefore less expensive (and thus less desireable) than the custom "A" models.

But don't let Bruce Gordon hear (or read) you dismissing them as inferior ... as a part owner of Eisentraut in the mid-1970s, he has a lot of pride in the Limiteds he helped produce before hanging out his own shingle in 1976.
