Well, whatever you do, you will almost certainly need a new longer cage rear derailleur and most probably a new BB with a longer axle. The triplizer middle ring plus small ring might be close to the price of a cheap triple, but you would have a higher quality crank. Plus you may be able to sell or use elsewhere the removed middle (currently inner) ring.

If you want to go for minimum cost, you can push an NR RD to a 28T FW with a 52-42 front if you get the chainlength just right and push the hub axle to the very back of the DO's. You might, maybe, handle a 30T FW if you also reduce the large front chainring to maybe 48T to cut down the range shifted. That would eliminate the need for a new BB axle and new RD. Plus you can probably find someone happy to trade you a 48T ring for a 52 or 53.

I have had several ideas, suggestions, so I am asking for some wisdom from this list.

1. Install a triplizer chainring on the Campy NR crank. 2. Install a new inexpensive triple crankset. 3. Replace the current 15-26 freewheel with something that has some larger cogs.

What do you folks Think?
