Interesting is it not that this thread was started by others who rejected the notion that a Schwinn Supersport was somehow beneath a $300 bid on eBay. Retorted by the opinion (mine) that it was great to see this and other machines judged unworthy by many on this List to be in regular use.

So who's being "snobbish"?

This list will always have its various factions... the lug huggers, the framebuilder worshippers, the riders, the Frankenstein bike cobblers, the historians, the ex racers and wannabe racers and so on. Most of whom are

pretty good at stating their various cases. Unfortunately when it hits t oo close to home for some, it's called "snobbery". So if you wanna hide you r stuff under a dustcloth, fine by me. If you'd rather have lugged steel represented on the road by a beat up Schwinn Supersport than a Masi, even better. What is "Keeper of the Flame", in such cases? The ridden Schwinn

Supersport or the hidden Masi?

Just don't at the same time sniff at how much people are willing to pay fo r something that was built to be ridden. And is, egad!, being still used a s intended. I bet you'd find the blokes who actually raced a lot of this stuff hold it in far less regard than most of us. And if they hung a bik e on their living room wall, their wives would kill 'em.

Me, I am off after work to grind some more dural off my NOS Maillard freewheel....
