An excellent book on cycling by an excellent author: "Need for the Bike" by Paul Fournel. Gets very close to what we're trying to capture with Dale's one-word assignment, too.

Very, very good English translation (from the French). Available in paperback on Amazon, barnesandnoble.com, etc.
