Subject: [CR]Gas pipe frame by definition

I am reading the current thread about old Schwinn Varsity "gas pipe" bicycles. But I thought a gas pipe bicycle was literally made of old (well, new at time of construction) household gas pipes with threaded ends coupled with 90-degree threaded fittings thrown together in a somewhat funky way.

There is a turn of the century (19th to 20th century) shop here in San Jose that I believe has a few of the frames/bicycles that I am describing.

What exactly is a gas pipe frame and what is it made of?

Comments? I'm lost.

Waiting for my daily crank call which comes between 9:00a.m. and 9:30a.m. every morning. I push *69 but it tells me the party cannot be reached. Anyone know a way I can catch this person?
