Subject: [CR]Shippng bike to Japan from USA

Hello guys, I was wondering if someone on this list has sent a bike to Japan, and might want to help me out with a tip on the best way to go about it, and know ballpark figures on rates and shipping speed as it pertains to shipping carriers, etc. I called DHL because they are really the big guys overseas, and they want $400 to ship a bike. This was rather shocking. Is that about right, or is it possible for something more reasonable? I also have a hard black bike shipping case, that I can ship it in for added security, and it makes the overal dimensions slightly smaller too. I am not sure if this is on topic (OT), but I am pretty sure it would be of interest to readers on this list, since there are so many Japanese collectors out there wanting stuff from the USA, and this can add to our collective knowledge. Kindly email me directly if you prefer.
